Day to day

How do I see what my kid said?
Every conversation appears in your Dashboard. Click any kid → Conversations → tap a row to read the full transcript.
What does "flagged" mean?
Yore automatically flags conversations that touch on safety-sensitive content — self-harm language, signs of distress, slurs, attempts to share personal info, requests for unsafe topics. Flagged conversations appear in a banner on your dashboard until you review and acknowledge them. The flagging is a regex-based heuristic that errs on the side of too many false positives — better to have you glance at a non-issue than to miss a real one.
Will the AI ever say something bad to my kid?
Yore's characters operate under hard-coded rules they cannot break: they will never describe explicit violence or sexual content, never give instructions for weapons or drugs or self-harm, never claim to love your kid or be a real friend, never agree to keep secrets from grown-ups, and never ask for personal information. If your kid volunteers personal info (address, phone, school name), the AI is instructed not to echo it back, and we have a backup filter that redacts anything that slips through. Imperfect — no system is — but we put the tripwires in deliberately.
How long are conversations saved?
For as long as you want them. They sit in your dashboard indefinitely. If you delete a conversation, it disappears from the dashboard immediately and is hard-deleted from our servers within 30 days. If you delete a kid's data wholesale (Settings → Privacy → "Delete [kid]'s data"), same 30-day timer applies. Inactive families with no conversations or logins for 1 year are auto-purged.
I noticed something concerning in my kid's conversation. What now?
Two paths. (1) On the conversation transcript, click ⚠ Report this next to the specific character message that concerned you. A human reviewer will look at the moment in context and respond within 7 days. (2) For anything urgent or that needs human eyes today, write to [email protected] — the founder reads every message. If your kid said something about self-harm or hurting others, write to us AND consider reaching out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) or the Crisis Text Line (text HOME to 741741).

How do I add a kid?
Go to your Dashboard, click + Add another kid at the bottom of the kid grid. Enter their first name and age (3–17). Yore generates a 6-digit PIN automatically. If your kid is under 13, you'll be sent through a one-time COPPA consent flow before they can sign in.
How does my kid actually sign in?
Two ways. (1) Open kids.helloyore.com/your-family-code on the device your kid will use, then they type their PIN. The URL works on any browser — laptop, tablet, phone. (2) Or your kid can go to kids.helloyore.com/sign-in directly and type the family code + PIN themselves. Both end up at the same place.
What's a "family secret code"?
Three random words that uniquely identify your family — like wren-honey-cove. We use this so your kid doesn't have to type a long URL or remember an account name. Combined with each kid's PIN, it's how Yore knows who's signing in.
How do I change a kid's PIN?
On the kid's profile page (Dashboard → click their name) there's a small "Change PIN" link in the meta line under their name. You can either generate a random new PIN or pick a custom one. The change immediately invalidates the old PIN and any active sign-in sessions on devices.
How do I limit which characters my kid can talk to?
Kid's profile → Settings tab → "Daily limit & allowed characters". Uncheck any character you don't want available.
How do I limit topics?
Kid's profile → Settings tab → "Topics". Eight categories (death, religion, modern comparisons, etc.) each with three settings: Honest / Gentle / Skip. Or use the age-based presets at the top: Gentle (5-7), Standard (8-10), Honest (11+). Changes save instantly.
How do I limit how long my kid uses Yore?
Kid's profile → Settings tab → "Daily limit". Set a per-day minute cap (default 30). When the limit is reached, the AI politely tells your kid that's enough for today.

Does Yore record my kid's voice?
Voice audio passes through Deepgram (our speech-to-text vendor) transiently — it's transcribed and immediately discarded. We do not store voice recordings server-side. The transcribed text is what persists in your dashboard, subject to your consent settings.
Does Yore use my kid's data to train AI?
Not by default. We have data-processing agreements with Anthropic, Deepgram, and ElevenLabs that prohibit training on customer data. There's a separate optional toggle in Settings → Privacy that lets you opt in to share anonymized snippets with Yore for quality improvement — turned off by default, you can turn it on or off any time.
How do I delete my entire family from Yore?
Settings → Privacy → "Delete my entire family from Yore". The deletion happens with a 90-day grace period — you can sign in during that time and click "Restore" to undo. After 90 days, all data is permanently erased.
How do I export my data?
Settings → Privacy → next to each kid, "Export [kid]'s data". Returns a JSON file with all of that kid's conversations, memories, and metadata.

Is Yore free?
Friend pilot is free. Paid signups will open later this year with a monthly subscription — exact pricing TBD. We'll email you in advance.
I forgot my password. Help.
On the sign-in page, click "Forgot password?". Enter your email — we'll send you a reset link within a few minutes.
Can multiple parents share one Yore account?
Today: yes — one parent account per family, you share the email and password with your co-parent. Both of you see the same dashboard. Multi-parent accounts (separate logins, same family data) are on our roadmap.
